LA Leather 2010 press release.

LOS ANGELES LEATHER WEEK (LAL) 2010 WRAP-UP

Celebrating its eleventh year, Los Angeles Leather Week (LAL) was a whopping success. Held March 21-28, 2010 LAL’s main event was the Mr. Los Angeles Leather Contest, where ten men from local leather-affiliated organizations and businesses competed for the coveted Mr. Los Angeles Leather Title.  The LALC is pleased to announce Mr Los Angeles Leather 2010 - Brad Taylor, who is also Mr. Regiment 2010.

MR. LOS ANGELES LEATHER 2010 IS BRAD TAYLOR!
The newly-sashed Mr. Los Angeles Leather 2010 is Brad Taylor. Involved in the leather and bear community since 1997, Brad has held the titles of Bay Area Cub 2002 and So Cal Cub 2004 (both title vests are now part of the Leather Archives), and he also competed at International Bear Rendezvous 2002.  Brad moved to Los Angeles ten years ago to be with his SIR, Master Kevin, and has been collared ever since. His leather journey continued as he worked at Gauntlet II which then became Eagle L.A., and volunteered with the L.A. boys of Leather and Bears L.A. Brad also represents The Regiment of the Black and Tans uniform club as Mr. Regiment 2010.  Brad will go on to compete at the International Mr. Leather (IML) contest in Chicago in May.

ADDITIONAL CONTESTANTS
First Runner-Up was Louie Pacheco, Mr. Christopher Street West Leather 2010, who will compete at American Brotherhood weekend in July for the American Leatherman title. Second Runner-Up was Chewy Morin, Mr. Ashram West Leather 2010 and the Brotherhood Award went to “Pup” Don Mike, Mr. Sister Leather 2010. View Photos of all ten contestants, aka “The L.A. Ten"

AVATAR LOT PARTY
Avatar Club LA hosted its annual LAL kick-off event, The Leather Lot Party, in the parking lot of the Faultline Bar on Sunday, March 21.  Tradition held when the ten LAL 2010 contestants rode into the lot on motorcycles driven by members of LA’s Motorcycle clubs LOBOC, Oedipus and Satyrs.  The contestants were introduced on stage by Jeff Wacha, Mr. LA Leather 2000, and drew their contestant numbers for the LAL 2010 contest.  The afternoon was warm, so plenty of skin was showing to help get the cruising energy going.  “Tasty Meat” food service truck was on site to provide plenty of tasty food to go with the alcohol and by days end, over 1,000 people cruised and partied in a lot full of leather.

HELL ON WHEELS
The always exciting Hell On Wheels Roller Skating Party took place on Wednesday March 24, where a rink full people in leather, rubber, and other fetish gear was a sight to see.

TOM OF FINLAND EROTIC ART FAIR
Held on March 26 and 27, The Tom of Finland Erotic Art Fair featured artists from around the world. Their works of art (sculpture, photography, paintings, sketches, digital art) were on display and for sale all day Saturday and Sunday. Attendees had the opportunity to become the artist in a Life Drawing and Photography class, where they got to sketch the human form.

PLAY PARTY @ THRESHOLD
Threshold’s Friday Night Mixed Gender Play Party was a blast.  The club was filled with a broad range of club friends and new guests from across the BDSM and Leather communities.  The space pulsed with play, music, socializing and a spread of delicious food, and it was amazing to see the blending of various cultures as  e pluribus unum—out of many, we become one was in evidence.

ANVIL-CLUB
The very first Anvil Club extreme dress code party debuted during LAL weekend on Saturday March 27 and the scene couldn't have been hotter.  Held at a private dungeon till the wee hours of the morning, Anvil drew a seriously hot geared up crowd of guys (from as far away as Germany and Israel!) who cruised the main bar and stirred up lots of leather on leather action in the old-school darkrooms … where they got their gear on and their rocks off!

LITTLE TOKYO
Guests of the Miyako Hotel enjoyed the diverse ambiance of Little Tokyo with sightseeing, sushi lunches, shopping and lots of interesting looks!

INTERFAITH LEATHER CELEBRATION
MCC in the Valley hosted an interfaith leather service featuring seven presenters from different faiths (Buddhist, Christian, Druid, Hindu, Jewish), each performing a short ritual then sharing how their leather ties into their spirituality. Plans are in the works to hold this event on a quarterly basis with rotating presenters and faiths.

LAL VICTORY BBQ @ BULLET BAR
The LAL Victory Party & BBQ at The Bullet Bar featured drink specials, a Tri-Tip barbeque by Chef Alan Tunstall and a chance to meet the new Mr. L.A. Leather and entire “L.A. Ten.”
