Alex Lindsay - Judge

Alex Lindsay Photo

Alex is originally from New York, but currently calls Los Angeles home. He has been involved in the leather community for almost twenty years, going back to his introduction to BDSM through GMSMA classes. It was there that he discovered a love of flogging, which to this day is still one of his favorite BDSM activities, both as a bottom and as a top. Of late, he's been developing a more hands-on appreciation for impact play and tickling.

He moved to San Francisco, California in 1994 where he met the SF Leather Daddies and his partner of 15 years (and now husband) Loren Berthelsen. Together they have been producing the West Coast Rubber contest and events for six years, and have recently started the Anvil Club extreme gear code parties and launched a new Leather People, News and Events blog called Leatherati.com.

Alex has also been involved with a variety of organizations in southern California. His appreciation of fetish is reflected not just in his involvement in the rubber scene, but also as member and current Deputy Chief of the Los Angeles Division of the California B&B Corps. He also is a Deputy Member of the Regiment of the Black & Tans, and holds the title of Mr. Regiment 2009. He has been a member of Avatar Los Angeles for a number of years, assisting with the production of dungeon parties, and always a willing participant and presenter for the club's BDSM education meetings and classes. He has also indulged his interest in bondage as a member and past President of the SoCal Bondage Club.

This past year he had the honor of being nominated for a Pantheon Award in the category of Community Choice (Men) as well as for Southland Honors for Person of the Year and for the Jeff Burnham Community Service award.

He is the founder of the OpenKink project, promoting openness and education about kink and sexuality and is traveling far and wide, representing the leather community during his title year as American Leatherman 2009.
